Bedroom
We tend to use the bedroom as our personal retreat and not just a room where we spend the night. Here, we find peace to read, relax or be alone and enjoy the silience.
Access to daylight should be good and it should be possible both to allow the light in and to black it out. The room should also have areas with working and reading lights – and with unfiltered daylight that reflects colours naturally when you choose what you are going to wear in the morning.

Daylight morning and evening
Windows with a view – and skylights through which you can look at the sky – provide well-being and optimum conditions for stress relief and rest. During the day the bedroom should be light enough to be able to clean, choose clothes or read.
During the day and night, heat regulation and ventilation should function well so that you get the best possible sleep and rest. Nothing gives you a worse start to the day than waking up in a warm and stuffy room. So good Natural Ventilation is essential.
Blinds allow you to regulate daylight gradually and keep the heat inside during the cold winter months – and outside during the summer. The direction the windows face plays an important role when it comes to light and heat. For example, In a bedroom facing south-east, the sun shines through the window during the morning, but the room has a comfortable, cool temperature on summer evenings.
Good light in the bedroom
- Daylight and views of the open sky create a sense of well-being in the bedroom. There is nothing better than waking up and looking out of the window at your surroundings and the weather.
- Being able to screen the light and ventilate the room ensures a healthy indoor climate - night and day. Blackout blinds allow you to shut out light completely.
- Remember to create zones with light for working and reading - and with daylight, for example when you are dressing.

How the windows are positioned is very important, both for lighting and heating. In a bedroom, it is best if the windows face south-east because they can then admit sunlight in the mornings, while limiting the amount of light and warmth that comes into the room the rest of the day.
